Eyrie

Terms of use

The deal

Buying or downloading Eyrie means you agree to these terms. They're meant to be plain — if anything is unclear, email [email protected] and we'll explain.

Who you're buying from

Eyrie is published by Vantar AI ("we", "us"). When you buy through AppSumo or Setapp, you're also bound by their respective marketplace terms. Where their terms conflict with these, theirs govern for the purchase transaction; these govern your ongoing use of the app.

Your license

You receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and run Eyrie on Macs you personally use or that your immediate household uses. A single Setapp / AppSumo / direct license covers one person across their personal devices. Volume / team / business licensing is available — email us.

What you can do:

What you can't do:

Your data

Your notes are yours. Plain Markdown files, on your disk. We never see them and we never claim any ownership of anything you write. If you decide to send your notes to an AI provider (your own Anthropic key, or via your Claude Desktop / Cursor / Windsurf install), that provider's terms apply to that data.

AI output

Eyrie helps you write but doesn't guarantee anything about what AI produces. Generated text can be wrong, biased, or made up. You're the editor — Eyrie's diff-approval gate exists precisely so you review every change. Don't ship AI output that hasn't passed your judgment.

Updates

You get free updates within the major version you purchased (e.g. a v1 license gets all v1.x updates). Major version upgrades (v1 → v2) may require a paid upgrade or be free at our discretion; we'll be transparent about which.

Refunds

Warranty disclaimer

Eyrie is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We don't warrant that Eyrie will be error-free, uninterrupted, or compatible with future macOS versions (though we'll do our reasonable best). We don't warrant that AI output will be accurate or appropriate for any purpose.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Vantar AI's total liability arising from your use of Eyrie is capped at the amount you paid for your license (and zero for Setapp subscribers, where Setapp bills you). We're not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages — including lost notes, lost productivity, or lost revenue.

Practically: back up your notes. They're plain files. git init in your vault. Use Time Machine. Eyrie won't lose your data, but the universe is creative.

Third-party components

Eyrie includes open-source components, including but not limited to cmark-gfm, GRDB, Sparkle, KeyboardShortcuts, and Anthropic's swift-sdk. Their respective licenses (mostly MIT / BSD / Apache-2.0) apply to those components and are bundled with the app.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, the new version replaces this page with a new "last updated" date. Material changes will be noted at the top of the page. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms; if you don't, request a refund within the applicable window.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Germany. Disputes go to courts in Berlin, unless local consumer-protection law gives you the right to choose your home jurisdiction (in which case those rights apply).
